NEW INTERNATIONAL VISITORS CONFIRMED FOR 2010
(22.03.10)
Following the success of the initiative to invite a select group of European buyers to the show in 2009, the show has confirmed a second group will visit this year.
The show’s director of sales, Patrick Wade, confirmed that buyers from Denmark, Finland, Germany, Italy, Norway and Sweden would be amongst this year’s visitors. In most cases, they will be accompanied by the key trade press title from their territories, which will cover their trip to the show.
“We have arranged an informal drinks reception on the evening before the show opens for exhibitors’ export representatives to meet the group, and of course they’ll have an opportunity to set up meetings at the show beforehand,” explained Patrick. “Good export opportunities are vital for our exhibitors, and we feel the show is an excellent showcase for the UK housewares industry.”
The buyers are all senior representatives from award-winning (gia award*) European retailers, and each is seen as a key trend-setting, kitchenware and housewares retailer in their own country.
The retailers are: from Denmark Magasin du Norde (department store) and Imerco (a 150 store chain), from Finland Chez Marius (specialist independent), from Germany F.S. Kustermann and Carl Abt (both specialist independents), from Italy Il Cucchiaio di Legno (specialist independent), from Norway Tilbords (a 115 store chain) and from Sweden Cervera (a 70 strong independent chain).
They will be joined by editors from French trade magazine Offrir international, Swedish title Glas & Porslin, the Danish titles Designbase and RADIUS, and from Norway Gave & Interiør.
*The gia awards recognize innovation and merchandising excellence in housewares retailing around the globe. Now in their 11th year, the primary sponsors of the gia award program are the International Housewares Association and the International Home + Housewares Show.
